How much mail you can send
A new mailbox earns its allowance gradually — otherwise our addresses would be on blocklists within a week and nobody’s mail would arrive. When a limit is reached the message is not sent and you get a notice saying when the limit lifts.

Frequently asked questions
Is it really free? What is the catch?
There is no catch, there are ads on the portal pages — that is what the service lives on. Payment details are never asked for, at sign-up or later, and there is no paid tier you are expected to graduate to.
Do I need a phone number?
No. A phone number is not asked for at sign-up and is not stored anywhere. Access is recovered with one-time codes, issued once and known only to you.
Which domain should I choose?
Any of them: all five work the same, only what follows the @ differs. The server name for mail programs is shared, so the choice of domain changes no setting at all.
How do I set up mail on a phone?
Incoming — mail.alpost.ch, port 993, SSL/TLS. Outgoing — mail.alpost.ch, port 587, STARTTLS. The user name is the full mailbox address. Step-by-step screenshots for iPhone, Android, Thunderbird and Outlook are in the guides.
Can I move mail from an old mailbox?
Yes, with any mail program: connect both mailboxes over IMAP and drag the folders across. We do not have a dedicated migration button yet.
What if I forget the password?
Access is restored with the recovery codes issued at sign-up. There is no other route: mailbox contents are not available to us, and we cannot verify anyone by identity document — that is deliberate.
Will my mailbox be deleted if I stop using it?
If nobody signs in for 180 days, the mailbox is deleted together with the mail and the hosted site. A warning arrives 10 days beforehand, and any sign-in cancels the deletion.
Do you read my mail?
No. Mailbox contents are available neither to us nor to advertisers: the ads sit on portal pages and have no connection to mail.
