I forgot my mailbox password

You need one of the recovery codes issued at registration. Enter your address and a code on the recovery page and it will ask you to set a new password.

if you have run out, new ones are issued from your account while you still have access
with neither codes nor access, what remains is a support request with control questions about the mailbox

Why access cannot be restored with an ID document

Because then anyone who forged a document would reach your correspondence — and so could we. We are deliberately built so that we cannot: mailbox contents are not available to us.

Recovery codes are the only reliable key. Keep them somewhere other than the mailbox: in a password manager or on paper.

Setting up mail on a phone or in a mail program

The server name is the same for all our domains — it does not depend on which domain your address uses.

Incoming mail server (IMAP): mail.alpost.ch : 993, SSL/TLS
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail.alpost.ch : 587, STARTTLS
User name: your full mailbox address
Password: the same one you use on the site

My message is not reaching the recipient

check the Sent folder: if the message is not there, it never left
look for a non-delivery notice — it usually states the reason
new mailboxes send less than established ones: this protects against bulk mail from fresh addresses, and the limit lifts by itself as the mailbox is used

Will an unused mailbox be deleted?

Yes. A mailbox not signed into for 180 days is deleted along with its mail and site. A warning is sent in advance. This is not about saving space but about hygiene: an abandoned mailbox is a gift to whoever guesses its password.
