Disk: first steps and sharing files
How to sign in, upload files, share them with another Alpost user or by public link — and why a link is sometimes not created.
How to sign in
- Open disk.alpost.ch, the “Disk” item in the webmail menu or the “Open Disk” button in your account.
- If you are already signed in on the site, Disk opens straight away. If not, the usual Alpost sign-in page appears; two-step sign-in, if enabled, is needed too.
- Your Disk account is created at the first sign-in — empty, without sample files.
Uploading and finding files
- Drag files into the browser window or click “New” → “Upload files”.
- Every file is checked by an antivirus. An infected file is not stored — Disk tells you straight away.
- Deleted items stay in the trash for up to 30 days, earlier versions of changed files also for up to 30 days. Until they are cleared, they take up space.
- Free space is shown at the bottom left; it is shared with mail and website.
Sharing with an Alpost user
Open “Share” on a file or folder and enter the full mailbox address. You can find a person only by the exact address and only if they have opened Disk at least once: searching by part of a name is not possible, and the user list is visible to nobody.
Public link
In the same “Share” panel, create a link and send it to anyone — no sign-in is needed to download.
- only for a single file up to 100 MB; put a folder into an archive without a password
- a link lives 7 days and closes after 100 downloads
- mailboxes older than 7 days can create links
- not allowed: programs, installers, disk images, password-protected archives
- if a link is not created, the reason arrives as a notification under the bell at the top
Calendar and contacts
Calendar and contacts open from the app menu at the top; the calendar also opens from the “Calendar” item in the webmail menu, and upcoming events are shown on the right in your mail. You can connect calendar and contacts to your phone and mail app — see the separate sync guide.
