Swiss QR-bill generator
An invoice with a detachable payment part and a QR code that every Swiss banking app can read. Free, without registration, and your data stays in your browser.
Runs in your browser: the tool’s code contains no sending of what you enter. The tool opens in a separate frame from office.alpost.ch: the rules of that page (CSP) forbid fetch, XHR, WebSocket and beacon requests, and the browser blocks loading anything from third-party addresses — only the tool’s own files from office.alpost.ch are loaded. See for yourself: developer tools (F12) → Network tab.
How to use it
- Enter the payee: name, address and IBAN or QR-IBAN.
- Add the invoice lines, the payer and, if needed, a reference — a QR reference or an RF creditor reference.
- Download the PDF: the invoice on top, the payment part with the receipt at the bottom. Scan the code with your banking app before sending it.
What a QR-bill is
Since October 2022, payments in Switzerland and Liechtenstein are made with QR-bills; the old orange and red slips are no longer accepted. At the bottom of the page there is a 210 × 105 mm payment part with a receipt and a Swiss QR Code that holds the payee, the amount and the reference.
The payment part is drawn by the open-source swissqrbill library according to the SIX rules, in German, French, Italian or English.
IBAN, QR-IBAN and references
With a regular IBAN you can use a creditor reference (RF…) or no reference. A QR-IBAN is a special account number for automatic reconciliation and always needs a 27-digit QR reference. Your bank issues both: the generator checks their check digits but does not invent them.
Questions and answers
- Which currencies are allowed?
- Only Swiss francs (CHF) and euros (EUR) — the standard requires it.
- Can I leave the amount blank?
- Yes: tick «Leave the amount blank on the payment part» and the payer fills it in. Handy for donations.
- Which characters are allowed?
- Latin letters, including Western European accents, digits and common punctuation. The standard does not allow Cyrillic or other scripts.
- Where are my details kept?
- Only in your browser. Tick «Remember my details» to avoid retyping them, or save them to a file.
- My bank rejected the QR-bill — what now?
- Check the IBAN, the reference type and the payee’s address: postcode and town are required. If the code still does not scan, write to us through the contact form.
